SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

NSS & Rural Outreach

RVIT's NSS unit is actively involved in rural development across Guntur district. Annual camps are conducted in villages such as Chebrolu, Pedakakani, Namburu, and Tenali.

Students participate in:

  • Construction of community toilets and sanitation facilities
  • Tree plantation drives (over 2,000 saplings planted since 2020)
  • Digital literacy programs for villagers
  • Health awareness camps with free check-ups
2024 Impact: 150+ students, 5 villages, 8 toilets built, 600+ saplings planted

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

RVIT proudly supports the national Swachh Bharat Mission with monthly cleanliness drives across Guntur city and campus.

Key activities include:

  • Cleaning public spaces like Guntur Railway Station and Bus Stand
  • Promoting waste segregation in 25+ local schools
  • Installing dustbins in underprivileged areas
  • Awareness rallies with slogans in Telugu and English
Total Waste Collected: 12,000+ kg | Dustbins Donated: 35

Blood Donation Drives

In collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Guntur and Guntur General Hospital, RVIT organizes blood donation camps twice a year.

Since 2018:

  • 1,500+ units of blood donated
  • Participation from students, faculty, and local community
  • Awareness on thalassemia and safe donation
2024 Record: 320 units in a single day — highest among Guntur colleges

Women Safety & Empowerment

RVIT’s SheSafe initiative ensures a secure and empowering environment for female students.

Facilities & Programs:

  • 24/7 women helpline and dedicated grievance cell
  • Self-defense training workshops every semester
  • CCTV surveillance in all hostels and common areas
  • Collaboration with Guntur Women Police Station for legal awareness
100% women hostel safety compliance | 500+ trained in self-defense

Water Conservation

RVIT is committed to sustainable water use through advanced conservation systems.

Initiatives include:

  • 6 rainwater harvesting units across campus
  • Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) recycling 60,000 liters/day
  • Drip irrigation for campus gardens and lawns
  • Student-led water audits and awareness campaigns
Awarded "Best Water Conservation Practices" by APPCB in 2023

Education Aid Program

RVIT supports underprivileged students in Guntur rural areas through free coaching and mentorship.

Focus areas:

  • Free classes for 10th and Intermediate (MPC/BiPC) students
  • Study materials and exam fee support
  • Career guidance and scholarship awareness
2024: 280 students coached | 92% pass rate | 45 secured government seats

Disaster Relief Support

RVIT stands with Andhra Pradesh during natural calamities.

Recent contributions:

  • Cyclone Michaung (Dec 2023): Relief to 1,200 families in Guntur & Krishna
  • Food packets, blankets, medicines distributed
  • ₹5.2 lakh donation + 3 truckloads of essentials
  • Student volunteers assisted in rescue and rehab
